IT'S ALIVE!!!!

Behind Dark Eyes

Mommy and Daddy finished their Frankencat! Here she is:

They call her Morgan and say she’s a sister for Kaline and me. Yeah, right. Like I’m going to have a science experiment as a sister. I can prove she was made out of our fur from the brush too. Look!

This is Morgan in front of the tall screen TV. See? You can see Kaline’s Fur and my fur. I think they even saved some of Baggle’s fur to get the white parts. And they probably could have started their project sooner because they obviously had too much fur!

Mommy said I could be Morgan’s purrsonoal trainer and play with her like I do with Kaline to help her get back her “svelte kitty figure.” I say they should have used less of the fur the saved to make her. Why do I want to play with a Frankencat?

Besides, Morgan the Frankencat is stealing my Daddy! The other night, she was all curled up on the couch with him, with me sitting right there staring at her! And he was all petting her and stuff, also right in front of me. He’s being unfaithful and flaunting it!

Kaline said maybe she is a real cat. She smells like a different cat than us. Well, why does she look like she is made out of our fur? And I don’t care. I just want her to stay away from my Daddy! I’m his #1 cat.

Excuse me; I have some more growling and hissing to do to keep that Frankencat in line.

Queen Carla

Behind Dark Eyes

Hello loyal blog readers! I know we haven’t blogged in a while. Did you see the picture? Kaline’s been recovering from when I beat her up. I chewed all over her because she was hogging the sunny spot. Yep, that’s what you get when you mess with m….

I Love Football

Behind Dark Eyes

This was a holiday today, Super Bowl Day! For the holiday, Daddy and Mommy pulled the short couch around in front of the TV and sat together to watch. I love it when they sit together because then I get to walk all over the couch and the pillows and them. Super Bowl Day is especially great because they don’t move!

I like people sports shows that have great cats and human people talking that aren’t afraid to admit that the tom is better at the game than the people. We were all cheering for the Patriots because they have a tom named Brady who plays for them. Everyone kept talking about how great Brady is. So, I got in between Daddy and Mommy on the couch and it was nice and warm. Then they both scritched my ears and my chin and all over my back and I just rolled over on my back and even let them rub my tummy. It was so nice! They just kept watching TV and petting me and wow, it never had to stop! Cuddling on the couch between Daddy and Mommy isn’t Kaline’s thing. She doesn’t know what she’s missing.

When the game was over Daddy complained that the wrong team won. But I figure that all the petting I got means it didn’t matter because I was the biggest winner this Super Bowl Day!!

Resolutions?

Behind Dark Eyes

Well it’s the end of the year and Mommy suggested we make a plan for the New Year. Daddy called it “resolutions.” I don’t know what resolution is. Kaline doesn’t even know what resolution is and she graduated obedience school!

Kaline thought it sounded like doing puzzles again. Mommy does that! She solves then again when she knows the answer so she can do it faster and get better scores. But the human dictionary doesn’t have solution and resolution in it together. Resolution is on a different page.

I found it. I know why we don’t know what resolution is. Why would a cat need to know that? Cats don’t need to fix anything!

But maybe we need to make resolutions so Daddy knows what needs to be changed! Kaline told me that maybe I was ready for school in the fall after all because that was pretty smart to know that!

Daddy had some suggestions. He thinks I should not go into the train room with him every time he goes in because I knock things over when I climb. I think that’s a good resolution, so my first resolution is that Daddy should stack things better in the train room so I don’t knock them over when I climb.

Kaline says the best resolution was already done when they moved the loveseat so there was a fresh side for her to scratch on.

Santa Paws brought us a bunch of treats, so we should resolve to eat them all before they get stale. That’s a good resolution.

Oh, and paper balls! I resolve to get more paper balls and remember where I put them so Mommy can find them when she cleans so I don’t run out of room.

I never knew Aunt Azzie, but Kaline tells me stories about her. Papa gave her moist food every night! I think we should resolve to do that! Kaline told me we should wait until I graduate from obedience school because it’s gonna take 2 obedience school graduates to get both Mommy and Daddy to obey together.

We got canned food on Christmas! It was very yummy! After dinner we played chase around the cat-toy tree and played with the catnip mice Santa Paws brought in our stockings.

Um, Kaline tells me I should make a resolution not to get distracted. That’s why I lose my paper balls.

I don’t know why I need to make a resolution to not get distracted I’m I see my catnip mouse. I’m gonna go play!

Kaline's Affection

Behind Dark Eyes

Hi everyone, It’s me, Carla! I know we haven’t written in our blog in a long time, but there’s been lots to get used to here.

First off, I hope everyone reads our Mommy’s blog. It’s over in the column of blogs we like because it’s our Mommy’s blog and there are pictures of us in it sometimes, so it’s a good blog. Anyway, Mommy’s blog told all about our sad news in June. Baggle went to the Rainbow Bridge. He hadn’t been good. He didn’t complain a lot, that wasn’t Baggle’s style. He only complained when someone didn’t give him food and as the cat and people food taster, that was someone getting in the way of his job. But as it turned out, he was very sick. So we’ve been working on dividing up Baggle’s jobs and thinking about what we’d do for is memory.

Now Kaline is sick. She’s not sick like Baggle was, oh no! I don’t think I could put paws to keyboard if she was really sick. She has eye affection and Mommy and Daddy have to put stuff in her eye. She doesn’t like it. I don’t blame her. It doesn’t look like fun. I’m so glad I hid deep enough under the bed so Daddy couldn’t make me go to the doctor. I like my eye affection. It’s just that Kaline’s got so affectionate, it turned her eye pink

I guess I should tell you about eye affection since it’s a cat thing and there are a lot of readers who aren’t cats. I hope I got it right. I don’t start school until next year, so I still have to look stuff up, I don’t just know, yet.

Everyone knows what eyes are. The picture on top of our blog is Kaline’s eyes. Everyone keeps saying it’s her right eye, but I watched them put stuff in the eye on the left. But that’s the eye that’s rosey colored too, so I think Mommy and Daddy are doing it right. Since I know what eye is, I looked up affection. It seems Kaline just likes everything she sees right now. Kaline is a happy cat, but not THAT happy. When your eyes get rose-colored, everything looks really great, even bad stuff. So, I guess I understand why you don’t want to look at the world that way. I just hope they don’t fix Kaline’s eye too much. I don’t want her to stop liking ME! She didn’t like me living in her house when we first met and I like it a lot better now that we can curl up together.

There are going to be some changes at Behind Orange Eyes. Kaline says it will be in tribute to great cats who we’ll meet again one day at The Rainbow Bridge. The Rainbow Bridge sounds like a fun place and all, but my toys are HERE. I think I’ll just stay here instead. Kaline says I’ll learn more about the Rainbow Bridge in school. She just graduated, so I’ll take her word for it. I’m going to let Kaline tell about the blog changes when her eye is better.

Spring

Behind Dark Eyes
Spring

Cat TV is getting ready for the new season of all the great shows! I excited because that means we’ll all watch TV together again. Kaline and Baggle don’t watch The White Show. They like the comedies better, I guess. Don’t get me wrong! I like the crazy antics of Wild Birds of Ohio as much as any cat and who doesn’t like Chipmunk? But The White Show is a good show too! I like the drama and suspense as all of the things get covered in white, cars with humans in them creep along and skid and you know it’s cold and wet on TV! It makes me happy I’m warm and dry. There is also a sneaky artist on The White Show called Rabbit. Rabbit comes on and paints paws all over the white. It’s neat when you watch and see his works but even cooler when you look real close to the screen when it’s dark and can see him painting. I guess Kaline and Baggle aren’t in to art as much as me.

Kaline says proud is a human word that means, “you did something, so I get something.” I’m proud of Kaline and how good she’s doing in Obedience School because she’s getting us extra treats all the time! I can’t wait until I’m 4 and get to take Obedience School classes! I haven’t decided if I’m going to let Kaline and Baggle be proud or if I’m going to keep all the treats for me. I’ll probably let them be proud. Kaline says if you do well, there is ALWAYS more treats.

Kaline told me that she was up early with Mommy and heard Cardinals! It would be so cool if I could catch a Cardinal! When Cardinals lose, it’s cat treats for everyone, but if CARLA wins, it’s cat treats for ME! I’m gonna keep watch. If I see that Cardinal, I’m gonna catch him and trade him in for my bounty!

Busy Summer!

Me and my birthday cake

I just celebrated my 5th birthday on August 12! Mommy served chicken birthday cake to all three of us and she and Daddy sang to me. That’s always very cool! Carla will be two this week and she’ll get to have her birthday cake in the family bowl of honor. I bet she'll like that! The bowl of honor was Aunt Azzie’s bowl. We kept it for birthdays to remember her.

We’ve had a lot going on around here this summer. Things have been okay, cut there have been some really bad things too.

In July, a bunch of worker men took over our bathroom! Mommy and Daddy had to bring our litter boxes upstairs for a few days and a bunch of noisy men invaded our house in the basement! They made so much noise my ears were throbbing! We all stayed upstairs while they were making all that noise in the bathroom. Mommy and Daddy said it was for waterproofing. What a great idea! It’s gotten wet in the basement before and I don’t like it when my paws get wet one bit! I’m so glad we have such a great staff!

Then a bug-guy was in the house. I don’t think I like him! It’s good that he kills the spiders that scare Mommy so much. Not that we can’t do that! In fact, spiders are pretty tasty. But Mommy gets all grossed out when she sees us eat them. Steenkey treats still taste better, so it’s okay for the bug-guy to kill the spiders. But what he does that is so NOT cool is that he makes it so mice can’t get in! Baggle and I like to play with mice and we’ve been telling Carla about the mice we’ve found in our basement. Well, okay, I’ve found one mouse down there since 2006, but there’s always a chance to find more. I look for them all the time. Now, the bug-guy came and used some stuff to chase them away. Like they weren’t having a hard enough time getting in before.

Baggle and I have decided that we wanted to share Behind Orange Eyes with Carla too. Her parts will be called Behind Dark Eyes. Her eyes aren’t dark they’re yellow, like mine, but she’s dark like I am orange, so that works okay! She has put a lot of work in on studying how to type in human and she’s not too bad.

The other big noisy thing that’s been going on is the Reds! Boy they are doing good this year and that makes Mommy happy, really happy! I like it when Mommy is happy and if baseball makes her as happy as she has been, I always want the Reds to win!

I’ll let Carla tell you about the Reds!

Behind Dark Eyes

Cat Treats For Everyone!

I think you all know that we are a huge baseball family. How could we be anything else? Kaline and Me are both named after famous baseball players! Baggle wasn’t named after a baseball player, but Kaline says he’s shaped like an old-school umpire. I don’t know what that means, but Kaline says I should Google “fat umpires.”

Anyway, we love red baseball things a lot. We like blue things and orange things too, but we really love red things. The Reds, in Cincinnati and the Red Sox in Boston. Carl Yastrzemski used to play in Boston. That’s where Daddy got my name. He liked Carl Yastrzemski when he was little.

This year the Reds are doing really good! When the Reds win, Mommy yells, “Reds win! Cat treats for everyone!” and gives us all treats. Then when the Cardinals lose, she does it again! “Cardinals lose, cat treats for everyone!” and more treats! Baseball is SO cool!

GO RED BASEBALLS!
